25 Rules for Design Graduates

Congratulations you are now a graduate of design. You have worked hard over the past 3 or 4 years to attain your degree and you now are about to embark on a career in design. I wish you the best of luck and good fortune now and in your future career.

Design isn’t easy, it’s a bloody tough job. But in the past twenty-odd years that I have been a designer, I’ve observed a few things. I’ve worked on big assignment and little assignments. I’ve done assignments that I loved doing and assignments that I’ve dreaded. There’s work that I’ve done that I’m proud of and there’s work I’ve done that no-one else has seen other than the client.

But there are rules to be a good designer. In compiling this list, I’ve taken inspiration from Velominati, these are my rules for anyone starting their career in design.
